What's it called when you're smarter than a geek?

So, I have to brag for a minute. I'll get off my pedestal in a minute, but for now, I'm relishing the wonderful feeling of victory.

Yes guys. I've decided I'm smarter than a geek.
You see, I took my computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy because I was having screen problems (it had all sorts of funky lines on it) and it was still under warranty. I self diagnosed (with a little help from YouTube and Google) that the problem was an LCD problem. When we turned the computer in, our "geek" was "oh no, you're making the problem more complicated than it really is" and said it was a ribbon cable problem. Since I don't know much about computers (see aforementioned Google and YouTube advice and me almost deleting the OS off my computer once), I just nodded my head and went along my merry little way (not really. I was pretty upset about them shipping my baby off to the land of Kentucky).
But today, we got a call that my computer was ready to be picked up. Naturally, I wanted to leave right away to get it. So, we get there and the guy (different from before) says that "they" fixed the LCD. Um, hello? Really? I kept my mouth shut until we left the store (all the while whispering to Mom "I told you so!") where I began to do a mini victory dance in my head because I was smarter than the geek.
Yep. This girl just beasted the Geek Squad. But, I'm very happy to report that my computer is back safe and sound with all of its programs, pictures, and the such still on it. Yay!

So. What's it called when you're smarter than a geek? A mega geek? I'm not sure I like the sound of that. How about a Sgeek? It's like a "Super Geek" but rhymes with squeak.

summer movies

Honestly, I’m not really a movie person. The thought of spending a bazillion dollars to sit in a theater with a bunch of people I don’t know (so therefore I have to be quiet) just isn’t my thing. I normally choose other activities to fill my time with. But, this summer, there are a few movies that have caught my eye and I really want to see.

kung

I’m hoping to see these two for my birthday (they come out the day before).

And this one comes out in August. Mom wants to see it too, so I’m thinking it can be a Mommy/Daughter Day. :)

what I wore this week

I see these fun bloggers post each week about the cute outfits they where and I’m secretly jealous. I know, I know. I shouldn’t be. It’s my own choice to wear nike running shorts (even though I’m SO not a runner) and a tshirt. But, this week, I issued myself a challenge. It was simple: Dress cute. I did really good last semester not looking like a total slob (to the point someone asked me if I was sick when I wore sweatpants one day.). I even took pictures…because I really like cute pictures. Haha.

It was actually really fun dressing up all week (except Friday). And taking pictures. Can this count as Project Life? Haha. It kind of helped that I'm interning at my church this summer (yay!), so I feel like I probably shouldn't show up looking like a slob. We'll see how long that phase lasts. :)

If you were wondering, I used my bookcase as a tripod. That would be why I'm bending down awkwardly in some pictures. I promise I wasn't intentionally trying to be super awkward. I try to avoid that kind of stuff. I also just realized I don't have shoes on in any of the pictures. Apparently I like to put my shoes on right before I walk out the door. I promise they were cute too. I'll try to take better pictures next week. (And find a better tripod!) Yay!

new blog and old pictures

So, I've decided to ditch the Wordpress move for a bit. I tried some things (and failed miserably). Plus, I really like the simplicity of Blogger and I know how to use it and code it and all of that fun stuff. But, in the meantime, I am starting up another blog on Wordpress. It's mostly going to be more theological musings and what I reading in my Bible/ in another book/ or what's on my mind right now. Not Your Everyday Cinderella will stay at it's current location and will focus on my personal life. It's not that I want to separate the two, but this will give me more room to be long winded. If you are interested in reading my other blog, you can find it at: http://www.laurenadam.com/blog/. I currently have two posts up. One is the missions post I talked about a few days ago. The most recent post is a follow-up to the missions post. It's on how our churches are more closely resembling frat houses than places of worship to an Almighty God and how things have got to change.

Completely off topic, but I was going through old pictures tonight and came across these two from my senior year in high school. Desi was in Kindergarten. Is it just me or was he cuter then? :)

friday, friday, gotta get down on friday....

  • So, I have a blog post I wrote yesterday (during The Great Blogger Outage of 2011). I was pretty sure I was going to post it today, but I think it still needs some work. It's kind of long and I want to split it up I think. Who knows. It'll be posted sometime.
  • In other news, today is Friday the 13th. My brother's convinced this means something bad is going to happen today. I'm trying to decide whether I should blast Justin Bieber when I pick the kiddo up from the Middle School. Evil sister? Yessirr.
  • This song won't get out of my head. I guess it's my own fault for watching Glee.(And would be the reason for the title of this post).
  • I'm debating a Wordpress move. Again. I know, it didn't go too great last time. And I don't want to lose my followers and I like the simplicity of Blogger. But, I like the freedom that comes with "owning" your blog. So, if you (or someone you know) has successfully made the transition, hit me up. This girl needs advice.
  • I need to do laundry. Asap. Weekend project?
  • I'm pretty sure I did laundry more when I lived in a dorm. I was pretty good at doing it every week or two. Now, not so much.
And that's all for now. :)

miscellany mother's day.

Summer.
It's here. And while I really enjoy blogging, I'm not really sure what to blog about right now. I mean, I have pictures. And I could work on that bible study. But, honestly...I need a break. I've been blogging for two years...and this girl is just tired. I'm in a social networking funk right now. I feel disconnected because I don't have a Facebook, so I don't know what's going on in the world. I haven't figured out that whole "real life connections" thing. I have a Twitter...but really, who tweets? It hasn't really caught on yet with the people I interact with the most. And then, I have this thing called a blog. And it's a really great way to document things...but I just don't know how.
So.
Refocusing.
I need a vision. Seriously. I'm so not kidding. It seems like my whole life is up in limbo right now. I have a major that I like. I have some ideas of what I want to do when I "grow up" but no serious "green lights". When I'm asked what I'm doing after graduation (in December 2012), my typical answer is something along the lines of "Well, I'm counting on the world ending in December 2012..." to which I normally receive weird stares. Apparently I don't look like one of those "2012" people. And I'm not...really...but it's a good excuse. It just seems like I really can't see past 2012. I know that 2013 could theoretically occur...but it's so...far away. I mean, I'll be twenty-three in 2013. That's old. I'm trying to embrace the freedom in not being tied down to a specific career path, but it's hard. It's hard not knowing what lies ahead in two years. It's hard not knowing what path I need to take...what classes, what internships, what whatever. It's so uncertain. But, I know God has a plan for me. So, I'll rest in that.

I've been perusing on Pinterest this afternoon. Future home decor. Yep. That's where it's at. :)

I think this would make a great children's library. Yes. I want to have a children's library in my house.

I love these spray-painted pink frames.

And lastly, I like these embroidery hoops with fabric in them. I'm thinking this could be dorm room decor for next year. I need color. And those dorms are lacking in the color. Anyone have any hoops to donate to the cause?
